White & Spirit, a duo of self-taught producers from Meaux, were approached by director Jean-François Richet in 1994 after he heard one of their recordings circulating in the neighborhood. They began composing the music for the film Ma 6-T va crack-er soon after. The music blends hip-hop beats, samples, and both melancholic and aggressive moods. It’s deeply narrative, designed to match the tone and rhythm of specific scenes—for example, slowing down the tempo during chase scenes to create tension. The soundtrack also features several French and international rap artists, including IAM, KRS-One, 2Bal 2Neg’, Mystik, Arco, Rootsneg, and Ménélik.
