Rega Planar 3
The original! Still available today, the Rega Planar 3 was first introduced in 1977.
The goal of the British manufacturer was to offer an audiophile turntable at a price accessible to the widest audience.
The model presented here is equipped with the R200 tonearm, an "S"-shaped arm that would later be replaced in 1983 by the straight RB300 arm. While this turntable does offer two speeds, switching between 33 and 45 rpm requires a bit of effort, as you'll need to lift the platter and manually reposition the belt on the pulley.
Often considered less performant than more recent models (which benefit from a quieter motor), this first version of the Rega Planar 3 remains an excellent turntable—simple to use and maintain. A true collector's piece!
