McIntosh C504
The McIntosh C504 preamplifier is a compact unit that was originally paired with the MC 502 power amplifier. Despite their smaller format, both components retain the brand’s iconic design codes with a black glass front panel and green backlighting.
The modest C504 follows the schematic of the larger McIntosh C33, though in a more streamlined version in terms of build quality and power supply. Designed to broaden McIntosh’s product range, the C504 nonetheless offers a full suite of features: two phono inputs, one tuner input, one auxiliary input, two tape loops, as well as controls for balance, volume, frequency equalization, and input selection.
When it comes to sound, the C504 delivers the signature McIntosh sonic identity: dynamic, refined, rich in detail, with particularly smooth and pleasant highs—all within an exceptionally quiet operating background.
