Released in 1983, the Audio Research D-70 is a tube amplifier in the tradition of the prestigious American brand. Aesthetically, nothing changes from the classic 19-inch rack-mountable aluminum front panel, featuring matching handles, black silk-screened labeling, and LED power indicators.

However, the true value of Audio Research lies inside the unit, with three oversized transformers—one in the center for the main power supply and two others for impedance matching, ensuring that this power amplifier delivers consistent performance regardless of speaker impedance.

Equipped with:
- 4 x 6550 tubes for power
- 1 x 6550 tube for screen regulation
- 7 x 6DJ8 tubes
- 1 x 12AX7 tube

All of these are arranged in a push-pull Class AB configuration, within a circuit designed for stable operation despite voltage variations, featuring an enhanced version of Audio Research's patented cross-coupled amplification circuits.
